BUILD YOUR LIST

While we build a successful business we take our time to try to get our presentation just right. We then work out our best traffic list to advertise our promotion. This applies whether we are building a list or building a successful business.

Today I as reading something that struck me like a lightning bolt from the heavens. Now some of you guys may already have realized this and I am playing catch up but for those who haven’t we should building our business 3 ways not 2 as I have been shouting out.

Naturally in building a successful business the first step is building a list. The next step is building your business with clever promotions and Ideas. Here is the third step. We do this every day we are online too! We should be building our traffic as a business also. Doing that would create the perfect business scenario.

While building a list is Vital we can’t do that with out Traffic. Therefore it would be a very smart business operator who took their time to build the Traffic. That is so obvious but I honestly never gave it a thought to look at it that way. With large amounts of quality Traffic, your list becomes well built. Now you have a good list, that would naturally have a flow on effect to where in your efforts to build a successful business, has basically happened almost like being on auto pilot!

Part of list building or more to the point, the idea to building a list is to build a profitable business which in turn will build a profitable list. But here’s a thought! How can we build a  list if we can’t build a successful business or at the very least build a profitable business structure?

Earlier we did touch on the need for a business plan and how to construct one. Well to build a successful business frame-work should be a part of that and how you will put in into practice.

For now however the side we will look at is why most people do not make money no matter what they seem to do. This flows to their efforts to build a list slowing it down effectively to a snail’s pace and while it is because the fail to build a successful business and it can be traced back to the lack of a Business plan or a good business plan something else is worthy of consideration.

In General no one reason is responsible for failure in most cases it while it can be tracked back to the plan there is something very few have considered. Attitude? Partly! Dud Promo? NO! What it is when stripped right down to the bare bones is your attention span.  Is it letting you down?.

For example; What happens after a month of something not working?Don’t many marketers move onto the next thing? Why? disillusioned yes! But if the business was pulling in $10,000 a month would your thinking be different. You Betcha!

Being disillusioned helps our motivation suffer and we lose interest and become inattentive, we no longer want to pay attention to this that won’t work as we are going nowhere, besides the promo is a dud and not working for me you may feel! Ask Yourself, how many have not worked for you since you have been online? We at the Krazy Krew as Individuals can say each one of us had lost count and I am sure if you’re honest with yourself and have been online for sometime, can say the same thing! Just as this had to happen to us, so to you need to hear this! It Is Time For Your Wake Up Call!

Did you Know that with every promotion or offer you have tried there has always been people who have profited from it!  Why haven’t you? For me, the number one cannot do without best thing since sliced bread online marketing tool is the Autoresponder! No exceptions, I believe it is a tool everyone Needs! They come at a price and usually you cannot have too many list members before you are forced to pay for an upgrade. The ones I have seen have been restricted too unlimited Autoresponders but you can only have 500 to 1500 list members then the price goes up from around $15 to $20 up to the $30 mark. Although I have heard of one Autoresponder allowing 3,000 List Members.

The Autoresponder we use allow 15,000, no this is not a misprint, it is
fifteen thousand list members before you need to upgrade. The cost is
about the same as the others.

List building as already stated is vital for the growth of your business but just how do we go about building a list? What list building tools do we need?

Simply having a webpage to capture future prospects details is not enough. Similarly it would be pointless adding hundreds of new members to our list unless we are ready to do something to help our members. Also if our foundation towards building a responsive list is not made solid it won’t take long before everything collapses and falls into a hole.

Building The Foundation
I had two friends who decided to teach themselves how to lay bricks so they could work together as a team to make money. The first thing one of them decided to do was to go out and purchase a scalpel, a frying pan, one ton of sand, 2 bags of cement, a wood saw, a pack of nails and 1000 bricks. The other person did not think he needed anything but the cement, brick and sand. How do you think the learning experience is going so far??

Not too good really. While they both had the right products one was using the wrong tools and the other had no tools. Therefore nothing really could be accomplished!

It’s the same with list building, if you have no tools even though you had a stunning Gift and an awesome product to offer a little later you will find it almost impossible to get your job done and with the wrong tools you may end up in a mess.

The Simple Basic Tools Required and Cost
Assuming you have a stunning gift or awesome product to entice prospects to your list here is a quick list and approximate cost involved to get started….

• That is basically all you need in the way of tools to get you started  at a monthly cost of about $25 to $30 and an annual cost for your Domain of $9.

  My suggestion to you is never use Free Hosting or Auto Responder when list building. Not only do they have additional ads your list members will see, the service on these as a free account when something goes wrong is not very fast. I started with a free Auto Responder and it crashed and I lost over 450 list members and all my Emails.  That put a real stop to my list building I can tell you.

  You may find you free hosting account travel very slow due to the number of people using the free Hosting . Slow loading will be very annoying to your list members. Concerning the additional ads the free options place on your website, you really don’t want that you need your members considering what you have to offer not what the other companies have to offer as well. An even worse scenario  is… it does not make you look like a successful professional marketer if you are using free everything and you customers get to see it.

  Please Note I am not saying that these free options are total rubbish because they are not. They do have their place on the Internet but considering my experiences with them, to me I don’t believe they are the best choice for online Marketers who are building a list to use.

  Again I say list building is the most important thing an online marketer can do when developing an online business. Therefore for that reason alone one should not only use the correct tools but tools of the best quality as well.

One of the strongest forms of advertising on the Internet and ideal for business building is email marketing, the very nature of this system tool is proof of that. For us that means our discussion right now will be about email marketing follow-up to our prospect list  This is after a new member has opted into our list, rather than our use of email marketing to look for new list members.

It is my thoughts that it is much better to concentrate first, on keeping and cultivating the members in the list, instead of searching for newer ones. Why? This is because if we follow-up with our email marketing correctly we will always be business building in a way that will provide for us a better income, day after day! Please don’t go thinking that I believe that looking for new list members isn’t important because it is! We will always be needing new prospects to take the place of those opting out or move up in category to become one of our personal VIP members.

Be Natural Be Yourself With Your Email Series
Business building through email marketing by its very nature of being able to contact the prospect list through the email series, allows the author to pass on a piece of him or herself. If written with honesty and sincerity and written in the way one would talk to someone next to them, it becomes as a conversation with your prospect, thereby giving the writer a more of a human nature to the prospect. Even more so if they are aware of a means of contacting the list owner when needed.

With writing the email series it is a highly desired practice that the prospect learns with whom they are dealing early in the series. It is also good practice to discuss what you do, where you’re from, your family, even talk about things you have coming up,. Warning, don’t hit them with all that at one time in there first mail rather spread it out over time. Some information I have received from one list I belonged to, even told me of some stupid mistakes made by the writer, often it can be quite amusing and has a bonding tendency..

Keep Your Promises To Your Prospect List
Being the custodian of a prospect list is a big responsibility. When requesting the prospect to join a list, generally some big promises have been made. It then becomes the list owner’s number one priority, to ensure ALL promises are fulfilled. If they are not, remember while the prospect knew how to join, they also know how to Unsubscribe and if that happens too often, then all the work done by the owner over an extended period of time, will destroy all business building in an instance.

Email Marketing And Your Use Of Time
Email marketing is one of the fastest ways to leverage time on the internet. After the Email series is set up and installed into the Auto Responder ready for delivery, the initial part of the writer’s obligations is complete and the beauty is, it only ever needs to be done once if done right. Providing nothing in the way of new and improved information turns up, no changes need be made to any of the out bound mail; it doesn’t matter if the list size changes overnight from 500 to 5000, no additional work is required. This frees up more time for other things to be done which is quite the opposite of offline business building.

For some it can feel as though it happened virtually over night

Build a responsive list is just about the most important technique one can learn, following the theme we’ve already discussed. However if you and your list don’t have the same expectations, and what I mean is, if they aren’t on the same page as you they will not remain list members for very long at all.||

We have already mentioned that very few go about building a list let alone a responsive list. I believe many do not know how or lack the confidence in doing so. Positive list building is not really an art form but to help you along with your list, it does mean you need a genuine I care attitude towards all list members.

With list building you start by having something of value to offer to entice your prospective to part with their contact details they then hit the enter button and you now have your first list member.

While that’s all well and good you must do some more work prior to advertising for list members. You need a way to contact them after they have hit your op tin button.

Auto responders are great for that you can set one to do almost everything you need to do. More on that later.

Some people I know hate to be a bother to other people and consider an email series landing at someones box a possible nuisance but when you consider they joined you, then they are expecting contact from you because you have made certain promises to them to solve a problem or assist them in another way.

Unfortunately the truth is you can not help anyone with a single communication, you need to stay in contact with your list members on a regular basis in order to build a relationship with them.

What Positive List Building Is
Positive list building is not negative it is warm friendly and assisting and through positive list building we not only develop relationships but friendships as well. Imagine a list member asking you to contact them! It does happen! I have several friends from that step alone.

You may like to spring for a small conference room to talk with your list members that is the best way to place a face on a list owner.

When suggesting a product to them provide them with a review on the value of the product and why you use it, tell them if you do not use it also, it could be a new release where by some of your list has a chance of making a few dollars. What would they think of you then?

With information you pass on to your list members or prospects, provide also a call to action! If doing something a certain way works for you and you share it then don’t you feel a gentle push to action is a worthwhile thing to do for them? It most certainly is plus what better way to prove to some members that you care enough to know when a little push is needed.

Positive list building can be difficult but by being a warm person thinking of their needs before your own you can and will be able to build a list full of responsive people.

As discussed in our previous post we have a good reason why building a list is very important. Almost all offline business advertise quite heavily in order to be seen, to gain an edge over their competition and like we said, online, it can be almost impossible to have many people see our website due to the fact of shear numbers alone. It has come to my attention (yeah I’m a bit slow) that everyone who is building a list does it similar to everyone else. They focus on the end product and the means to get you to it. However most are written around a product to convince you to join their list then send you convincing follow up mail from their list building effort, creating and solving problems till they convince you to finally make the purchase.

As I see it, I must use their list building efforts to teach me to sell products That I need to purchase from them and I will make money. They may have product reviews, provide ideas about selling push Host companies and Auto responder links our way all good advertising  BUT…

Whats unique about that?

Besides most of us are aware of this so perhaps a real change is needed?

What”s Next Then
Let’s take a whole new look at our Business to allow us to come up with something new, a new idea to build a list.  We now need to draw a circle  and inside that circle, have 2 center points… HUH??  The business we choose is our circle of online marketing activity. However we have 2 primary focal points. The first is to establish a firm, workable theme for our business. Next by using that focal point, we work to build a list. Therefore everything we will be doing from now on with our business, will be centered not around but right on our Theme and list building. Get It??

Well, I did say It is “Time To Change

Themes, list building and branding, seems like a lot to remember! That’s not strictly true. Once you’re in your writing zone with your theme the rest all but comes automatically.

Think about it what are you trying to brand? Your Business, Your name, Your theme? Like Woolworths “the Fresh Food People” their theme is what Branded their name and business. This further makes the use of your theme consistantly with all you do, vital. Positive List Building demands that.

The whole concept we are trying to develop is an easier way to build your list using ideas that have worked for others but also being inventive with additional thoughts we can use as well.

Your Business and its Name is your Brand, your theme is what will provide that brand so it needs to become popular enough to pull people to it. By achieving what we have already discussed will go a long way to have lasting result.

• Your theme will now have people pulling power
• Finally Your theme will be building your list and through that list building effort your business and its name has developed a great brand in the eyes of your consumers.

Such is the power of a wise decision before you launch a new business.

As I just said and I want to say it again because it’s new and it will be vital to our business growth. Inside our circle// er// business we need to develop a very unique Theme. A solid theme fixed in place whereby everything must rotate around. Everything we do will need to involve this theme. When we write about or advertise our business we should be writing or advertising on that business theme always having a list building detail capture or opt in box included with it. This is because our theme and idea is so unique others will want to know more about it. List Building becomes almost easy peasy! I did say almost!

An Example Of One Business
Let’s say we have a very common business named “The Make Money Business”. This is a VERY popular niche and we have many business types and styles centered around the Making Money Niche. We now need to Focus on a theme!

Our theme could be “The Power Of Being Established”  This will become our focal point, not to making money but to build our list. This makes it less invasive on others as you teach them to build foundations, framework walls and the roof of your business. By consistently advertising that theme your business will be branded in the minds of others as being solid and well established. By all means place a helpful link to a free product with no cash obligation or you may like to include a free item with say a small priced back end that won’t hurt those who choose to remain free. We are entitled to make money but it should be a choice for our readers and list members not an obligation.

An Example Of Success
To further consider what we have just covered let’s consider Food Chains! One in Australia is Woolworth ‘s and they are the Fresh Food People and that term branded them, everything they did was centered around there theme and clientele building. See the 2 center points to Woolworth’s circle? Theme and List Building (or a type of list building through satisfaction.) became their center or focal point.

Why not be like Woolworth’s and be different, innovative and develop a theme around our Make Money Business. Naturally we need to inform others about hosting and Auto responders but keep away from doing what everyone else is doing.

In Concusion
Now for some the above may be a poor example but I hope it got a message across to you. While everyone is shouting Make Money, buy this purchase that, your war cry should be different like say.. Consolidate your business and use that power of being established to build a list, while providing or teaching your members great ways to do it.

That is what being different is all about. Once you have shown you are different, that difference will become your Brand and your brand when it is starts to become known will build your list almost on autopilot.

Yes in all you do with your business focus on your theme and always use that to build your list because list building is your business’s life line to success.

Many many years ago before the Internet was even considered, list building was alive and well.

I remember our local store having a big book and they use to take their customers details. It may start with a store special  running out, so the staff would take down customer name and mailing detail to inform them when cerain items they requested were back in stock or back on special. Slowly over time they were building a list of motivated customers.

Many local stores use to give the customer a little something extra just to say thank you for shopping at our store, this made their list building even easier. As time went on and larger food chains emerged   became a regular form of advertising. A brochure would arrive in an envelope, addressed personally to the customer.

Slowly as these chains grew bigger the personal touch started disappearing but every week we had brochures with the shops specials. Yes List building was a vital method of having returning paying customers.

What can we learn from this? A local store or shopping center had a physical front that everyone who passed by could see. Not so Internet marketers today! Our store front is virtually invisible and often quite lost among the other billion websites on the Internet. Therefore when we have a prospect or a customer appear on our site can’t you see the real necessity to be able to grab their online details and start building a list of people  reminding them to return to your site?

You usually only get one chance with a prospect, unlike an offline shopping center a few hundred yards down the road. These places have Radio and TV ads bellowing out there name. The local store itself is usually very vibrant and pleasing to the eye. Yes we may see them every day but our poor old website is usually buried among billions of other sites and very few even gets to see it. Not forgetting what ever product you are promoting so too are 2 or 300 others. List Building is your online marketing businesses lifes blood, without you endeavoring to build a list your business will die.

It matters naught how nice you are or how wonderful your site is without returning motivated people/customers it becomes almost impossible to make a penny. See why every successful online marketer is saying no matter what you do online everything starts with the need to build your list.
